Most of us have often come across stray dogs and would’ve called a local animal rescue organization to get the dog to safety. Almost all cities in the world have stray dogs, and some of them get into horrible situations that need experienced rescuers to get the dogs out of that situation safely. Some strays end up living next to a busy freeway, while others end up in sewers.
A stray pit bull that was later named Stormy was discovered to have been living in the sewers. Nobody knows how Stormy ended up in the sewers, but everybody knew that she needed to be rescued quickly. There were miles of pipes underground, and the rescuers knew that they had to act promptly to save Stormy.
Stormy could be heard howling underground as if she was trying to call for help. The rescuers first assessed the situation by leaving food and a camera to see how stormy was doing. They discovered that Stormy was still a puppy and was relatively healthy. There were no apparent injuries, and the rescuers also strategized on how to get Stormy out safely.
The rescuers always left food for Stormy to keep her in the area. Once a routine was established, the rescuers began the rescue operation where they blocked off escape routes for Stormy and kept her contained in one location. They did this by deflating exercise balls and re-inflating them once they were inside the pipes.
The rescuers also enlisted a plumbing service who had a remote-controlled wheeled drone equipped with a camera. The drone was used to locate Stormy, and once they located Stormy, the drone operators nudged Stormy with the robot to encourage her to move into the enclosed area.
When Stormy was finally in the enclosed area, one of the rescuers came down and started spending time with Stormy to reassure her that everything was going to be alright. The rescuers eventually lifted Stormy out of the sewers and into the surface.
Stormy was a little confused and afraid, but once she got her bearing, Stormy relaxed and seemed to know that she was finally rescued and in a safe place. After the vet assessed stormy, she went off to her foster home.
Stormy wasn’t microchipped, and nobody came to claim her. Stormy’s foster family already fell in love with her and plans to adopt Stormy for good when nobody comes in to claim her. Here’s a remarkable video showing Stormy’s rescue.
