The small town of Babylon, New York recently celebrated a joyous feast five years in the making. Residents and the local government gathered in front of the town hall to officially announce the arrival of Trigger. Trigger is the longest staying dog at the Babylon Animal Shelter.
Since 2015, the brown and white pit bull mix stayed at the shelter, where he met hardworking and kind volunteers. Back then, the dog was only three years old, but it is already noticeable that the dog did not have a good life. When the dog arrived at the shelter, Trigger was covered in wounds and was emaciated.
With his state, the volunteers sought the help of a veterinarian to assess Trigger’s condition. That visit to the veterinarian exposed Trigger’s other medical conditions. The veterinarian likewise found out that the dog had severe food allergies and a rare autoimmune disorder. This autoimmune condition causes Trigger’s head to face atrophy.
Trigger’s poor health condition did not end there as the veterinarian likewise saw that the dog’s eyelids needed surgical repair. Despite the dog’s sad state, Trigger exudes so much happiness and positivity. The dog does not let his medical condition get in the way of him being a good and happy dog.
The dog underwent several medical procedures to alleviate the pain that his conditions bring him. It took a while for the dog to recover from the medical procedures, but Trigger pulled through. When the dog finished his recovery, the volunteers tried everything to have him adopted.
However, despite the many attempts at adoption, Trigger could still not find his perfect home. Fortunately, after five years of waiting, Babylon’s local government decided to take him for good. The local officials see that the dog could be an asset for the town.
