Homeless people find companionship with their pets. Despite life’s challenges that they are experiencing, having a dog with them during these times is something that keeps them holding onto life. Pets have a remarkable ability to keep someone feel loved even during low points.
There is also a stigma against homeless people. They are regarded as lazy and capable of doing something illegal. However, some homeless people were displaced due to reasons beyond their control. Some people call it bad luck.
Of course, homeless people do not like their current situation. They still have hopes that they would be able to live a comfortable life. They always wish to live in a home to warm them up during winter.
One homeless man received an overwhelming response after many people posted his photo on social media looking for a job.
Lawrence Chappell is a homeless man with a service dog by his side. He decided to live on the streets because he does not have enough money to pay for the rent and to buy food for his dog. Lawrence is often seen at the corner of I-10 and Highway 6 in Houston, Texas, holding a large sign that says he needs a job to feed his dog and himself.
Finding a job is a challenge for Lawrence. He had a criminal past, and people do not want to hire him because of that. Despite the rejections he is experiencing, Lawrence didn’t give up. He continued to hope that one day, someone would give him the benefit of the doubt and give him a shot to show that he’s a changed man.
On his sign, he specifically mentioned that he needed at least $58 a day to help him get by.
Someone has posted his photo on Twitter, and soon enough, Lawrence received a lot of phone calls telling him that they are willing to help him in any way they can. Someone even volunteered to pay for his room until he gets stable. Lawrence can’t contain his happiness with the overwhelming response he received.
During his interview at abc13.com, he happily announced that he got a roofing job. His earnings from that job would allow him to buy a second-hand car. Having a car would allow him to explore more job opportunities.
Lawrence is grateful for the people in Houston for reaching out to him and his faithful service dog.
Lawrence is one selfless man. He only thinks of his dog more than his welfare. Thank you to everyone who believed in him. It’s faith in humanity restored.
